Viewing of the film, "Cuban Hip Hop: Desde el Principio" followed by a panel discussion featuring film director Vanessa Diaz, Magia and Alexey of Obsesion, and Professor Ruth Behar.
Thursday October 6th:
"Sounds from the Underground"

Obsesion performance featuring DJ Sabor
Opening act: Tree City
Dance performance by Alex Tracy and Sadie Yarrington

Who is Obsesion?: Alexey Rodriguez, MagÃa Lopez and DJ Isnay Rodriguez form the hip hop group Obsesion. The group began in 1996 in Regla, La Habana, Cuba and has been influential within Havana’s hip-hop scene since its inception. Their music and lyrics offer a unique and often untold perspective of the Cuban experience through issues of race, gender, identity and life as young artists 50 years after the Revolution.
