This presentation will explore holdings and collection histories of objects from the Pacific Islands housed at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The Museum’s responsibility to these so-called “primitive arts” will be discussed in relation to the ethical dilemmas regarding repatriation of human remains and sacred objects.
