DUNE: Honors Summer [Virtual] Event
Frank Herbert's 1965 classic, DUNE, is set for a November 2020 Paramount Pictures release, starring Rebecca Ferguson, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Mamoa, directed by Denis Villeneuve. Our goal for this Honors-wide event is to explore DUNE's themes, of environmentalism, declining empires, and heroism, which ring true to its fans worldwide.
The only material needed to participate in this Honors-wide event is a copy of Frank Herbert's award-winning book, DUNE. Use the REGISTRATION link to open the closed Canvas site. Participation is voluntary; there is no penalty for partial participation. SHA engagement points are available.
Virtual discussion questions are posted weekly throughout the summer. There are three online events with special guest participants. Watch Party: TBD.
Notable: Herbert's 1965 classic won the Hugo Award and the inaugural Nebula Award for best novel. DUNE was released as a movie in 1984 and as a television miniseries in 2000.
