Director of Outreach and Engagement, Christen Johnson

Christen Johnson serves as the Director of Outreach and Engagement for Philadelphia Futures, a nonprofit organization that supports low-income, first-generation-to-college students in their pursuit of a degree. She earned her Master of Education in Teaching, Learning and Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Michigan. Prior to her work in Philadelphia, she taught middle and high school in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Her most impactful college learning experience came from her service through Americorps, where she was fortunate enough to work with the late Grace Lee Boggs on developing the Lives of Urban Children and Youth initiative to connect university resources to underserved communities in Detroit.
