Aspiring Laboratory Leadership: CDC Laboratory Leadership Service Fellowship Webinar

Are you a PhD scientist yearning to make an impact in the lab and beyond? LLS is accepting applications now through June 28 for assignments beginning in July 2021. This webinar will help prepare you to apply and answer your questions.

CDC’s Laboratory Leadership Service (LLS) invites interested candidates to attend an information session to learn about this unique fellowship, offering unparalleled opportunities for career progression in public health.

Please share this invitation with colleagues, specifically early career lab scientists with a PhD and two years ofpost-graduate experience.

This webinar will provide an overview of thetwo-year experiential service fellowship, cover the application process and timeline, and include time for questions and answers. The applicationperiod is open now through June 28, 2020. This is the last webinar that will be offered to help prepare fellowship applicants prior to the application deadline.

About the LLS Program
LLS is an experiential service-based fellowship that encompasses rigorous training in applied public healthlaboratory research, laboratory operations and quality management, the science of biosafety, bioinformatics, advanced communications, and leadership. The LLS program gives PhD scientists a unique opportunity to go beyond the bench for guided instruction and hands-on problem-solving alongside the elite corps of public health professionals working to protect the public’s health.

The program’s competency-based training helps bridge applied laboratory science with public health, allowing fellows to provide daily mission-critical technical expertise and service to federal, state, and local public health laboratories and support public health investigations. LLS is closely aligned with CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) to promote interdisciplinary training, applied learning, and collaboration between laboratory scientists and epidemiologists.

What LLSFellows Do
LLS fellows receive a mix of rigorous didactic training, mentorship, and diverse hands-on experiences. Fellows are assigned to work in CDC and state and local public health laboratories. They serve the agency and its partners by providing creative and effective approaches to real world public health laboratory issues.

In their daily work, LLS fellows conduct cutting-edge research, support rapid response to disasters and disease outbreaks, help investigate emerging health threats, and enhancethe laboratory systems and practices that are essential for public health. LLS seeks laboratory scientists looking to take their careers to the next level while doing work that delivers real benefits to communities acrossthe country.
