"Art History IV: Early Medieval Art in the West"
This Study Group will be online
Following the enthusiastic reception of the three art history courses that I taught in Fall 2020 and Winter 2021, I am offering Art History IV, which continues the history of art and architecture with the courtly art of the Carolingian and Ottonian empires as well as the unrestrained exuberance of Hiberno-Saxon art in the British Isles and Scandinavian art of the 9th through 11th centuries. A goal of the course is to practice "close looking," in order to understand the multiples meanings of the art. The course will interest learners who have traveled in Western Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. Molly Lindner leads this course on Tuesdays September 21 through October 26 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. Preregistration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed prior to the first session.
