CBSSM Seminar: The Leaky Pipeline in Emergency Medicine: Understanding Factors Pushing Women Away from the Specialty
Adrianne Haggins, MD

Despite an approximate 1:1 ratio of women to men in US medical schools, the proportion of women applicants to EM has persisted in the 33-37% range in the past decade. However, prior quantitative research on medical student decision-making surrounding specialty selection has not explained these gender differences. This talk will improve understanding of the gender gap in EM and inform interventions to prevent talent attrition.
