Abstract:
Effective communication is crucial to building better relationships, stronger business proposals, more effective engineering recommendations, and more successful careers. However, it is a discipline which is very much underrepresented and under-taught in engineering education today.

Mary Hinesly is the Chair of the Ross School of Communication, and in a very interactive lecture she will share teachings and perspectives on how to be an effective communicator.

About the speaker...
Dr. Mary Hinesly has been with the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan for over seventeen years. Hinesly was the Michigan Ross Teaching Excellence award winner and was recognized as the Honored Instructor at the University of Michigan. She was named Poets & Quants top business Professors for 2020.

Her research and consulting work focus on business communication and digital transformation. Dr. Hinesly presents workshops and seminars internationally for executives. She earned her doctorate at Grenoble École de Management Technology and Innovation in France. Dr. Hinesly has been involved with over 100 companies including Google, Cisco, Amazon, Jive, Microsoft, Yelp, Cupcake Digital, Wacker, GE, LVMH, and more.

Dr. Hinesly has over 23 years in the private sector. She has served as the Director of Research for Thompson Associates, and the Director of Educational Content and Research for the National Retail Federation. She was an acting CEO and a COO for retail organizations.
