The Jonathan Ovalle Quartet is a high-energy foursome that performs an engaging mix of Afro-Cuban jazz as well as contemporary straight-ahead originals. Comprised of Andrew Bishop (saxophones and clarinet), Brian DiBlassio (piano), Pat Prouty (bass), and Jonathan Ovalle (drums), all members of the quartet are active performers and mainstays on the Detroit-area Latin/jazz scene. This UMMA presentation will feature a special memorial tribute to the late pianist and composer Clare Fischer, as well as new arrangements and originals by Jonathan Ovalle.
