Paths to Private Equity: Consulting vs. Banking
Four private equity associates will debate the benefits of pursuing a consulting vs. banking career and which best prepares you for a PEassociate job. This event is hosted by Cove Hill Partners. Cove Hill Partners is a $2.5bn+ private equity firm focused on partnering with outstanding management teams to build market-leading consumer and technology companies. The Firm manages a long-duration capital base and pursues a concentrated approach to investing. The Firm is headquartered in Boston.

Dennis Bao (Associate | Promoted from Analyst – August 2021):Prior to joining Cove Hill, Dennis completed investment banking summer analyst programs at Morgan Stanley and Piper Jaffray. Dennis graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with an A.B. in Applied Mathematics and Economics.
Andrew Chou (Senior Associate | Promoted from Associate - August 2021): Prior to joining Cove Hill, Andrew was an analyst at RBCCapital Markets in the firm’s San Francisco office. During this time,he advised financial sponsors as well as large cap and middle market companies on M&A transactions in the technology sector. Andrew graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Nick Deale (Senior Associate | Promoted from Associate - August 2020): Prior to joining Cove Hill, Nick was as an analyst at Moelis & Company in the firm's New York office. During his time at Moelis, he worked on M&A and restructuring transactions for large cap and middle market companies across a variety of industries. Nick graduated cum laude from the University of Oregon with a B.S. in Finance.
Eva Monroe (Associate): Prior to joining Cove Hill, Eva worked as a management consultant in Bain & Company’s Washington, DC office. While at Bain, Eva conducted commercial due diligence for private equity clients, and advised clients in the consumer goods, hospitality, and industrials spaces. Eva also spent time at MIRTA, a start-up Italian luxury fashion marketplace. Eva graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a B.A.in Applied Mathematics.

Jane Levy Vance (Principal): Prior to joining Cove Hill, Jane worked in corporate development at Opsgenie, an IT incident management software provider. At Opsgenie she worked closely with the management team on key strategic initiatives, including the sale of the company to Atlassian in October 2018. Prior to Opsgenie, Jane worked at Bain Capital Public Equity on the technology team, investing in publicly traded software and services companies. Before that, Janespent three years at Berkshire Partners, working as an investment associate in both its private equity group and its public equity affiliate, Stockbridge. Jane began her career at Morgan Stanley, working in the media and communications investment banking group. Jane graduated cum laude fromYale University with a B.A. in Economics. She received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar.
Matt Salant (Senior Vice President): Before joining Cove Hill, Matt spent seven years at McKinsey & Co. in New York, most recently as a Junior Partner. There he focused on helping private equity firms assess investments and grow the value of their portfolio companies. He also worked with technology and financial services companies on business building, strategy, and M&A. Matt graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and second in the class from Columbia University.
