Presented By: Planetarium & Dome Theater at the Museum of Natural History
Big Astronomy
Big Astronomy focuses on three of Earth’s largest observatories in Chile’s rugged Andes Mountains and arid Atacama Desert. By avoiding clouds and light pollution, mountain tops and dry deserts are ideal locations for Earth bound telescopes. Big Astronomy features the perspectives of not only astronomers, but also the engineers, technicians, and support staff needed to keep these massive pieces of equipment running. Includes an abbreviated star talk.
The state-of-the-art Planetarium & Dome Theater at the U-M Museum of Natural History transports visitors beyond distant stars and deep into the ocean from the comfort of reclining seats. Tickets $8. Tickets are available on the day of the show at the Museum Store.
The planetarium is operating at less than 50% capacity to maximize distancing between viewers. As with all University of Michigan buildings, masks are required.
