Universal Design is a concept dating back to the 1960’s, primarily in the field of architecture. The major concept concerns the design implementation and usage of spaces in which individuals live their day-to-day life.

While addressing major issues affecting persons with handicaps or disabilities, the purpose of Universal Design is to allow all people from infancy to old age and with a range of special abilities to conduct their lives in as normal of a way as possible. In our presentation we shall include approaches involving physical spaces as well as learning environments, hence the title “From Restrooms to Classrooms: Universal Design”. Topics may range from implementing spaces such as restrooms to learning environments including classrooms and workplaces.

Accompanying our speaker, Professor Hagen, will be two undergraduate research assistants, Makiah Tripp & Linda Fan.

This class meets on Thursdays, from April 14 – April 21. No classes on holidays.

Pre-registration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed to you approximately one week prior to the first session.
