Fareed Zakaria’s Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World
This study group will be online.
We will read and discuss the title book in which Zakaria states “even with vaccines and therapies, a plague has a unique effect on the world economy....the most transformative event of our lifetimes...simultaneously affecting almost every human being on the planet.”
This book is not about masks or vaccines. It deals with impacts on governance, politics, markets, inequality and social trends. He talks about “tight” and “loose” countries and how their responses to COVID may affect their ways of governing.
Gerry Lapidus has lead OLLI book discussions since 2005. Classes are informal and conversational. He leads the first discussion and requests volunteers to lead subsequent meetings while he serves as moderator. Please read Introduction and Lesson One (p. 1-29) for the first session.
This class meets on Tuesdays, from January 18 – May 31. No classes on holidays.
Pre-registration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed to you approximately one week prior to the first session.
