Put Up Your Hair: An Introduction to Nineteenth- Century Hairstyles
This study group will be online.
Have you ever asked yourself the question, “Why did they wear their hair that way?” This study group will help you find the answer! We will go through the evolution of women’s hairstyles from approximately 1800-1945. Participants will learn the political and social influence behind the fashions of the day and will be able to participate in a Q&A session.
Instructor Julie Brown is the author of “Put Up Your Hair: A Practical Guide to Nineteenth-Century Hairstyles”. She has lectured for various museums and events about period hairstyles for more than twenty years and is contracted to The Henry Ford to style hair for special events. She is also the Assistant Director of OLLI-UM.
This class meets on Tuesday, May 10.
Pre-registration is required via the OLLI website or phone. A link to access the study group will be e-mailed to you approximately one week prior to the first session.
