Description:
On December 1, the Supreme Court heard arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a Mississippi case that would make most abortions illegal after 15 weeks of pregnancy (roughly two months earlier than the 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade). The state explicitly asked the Court to overrule Roe, which turns 49 on January 22, 2022. A solid majority of Justices (6-3) are on record opposing abortion rights. IRWG has invited experts to discuss the case, including implications for the future of abortion access across the states and reproductive rights and justice in the U.S. more broadly.
