Join us for a discussion with artist Darya Apakhonchich about how Putin’s Foreign Agent law has impacted life and art in Russia. From NPR: “In December, the 36-year-old mother of two discovered that the Justice Ministry had included her in a list of ‘foreign media agents,’ alongside media outlets including U.S. government-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Apakhonchich's offenses were getting paid by organizations such as the French College at St. Petersburg State University and posting her political views on social media.”

This discussion is organized by the Flying Subtitles Collective (https://sites.google.com/view/flying-subtitles/home) and will be facilitated by Ania Aizman, assistant professor of Slavic languages and literatures and Michigan Society of Fellows postdoctoral scholar at U-M, and Arthur Mengozzi, MIRS-Russian East European, and Eurasian Studies student.

The Flying Subtitles Collective, based at the University of Michigan, subtitled a documentary about life on the Foreign Agent Registry, available here: https://tinyurl.com/ForeignAgent.
