Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women
As guitarist in legendary bands like the Blasters and later X, Dave Alvin was one of the key creators of Americana music, and his recordings over the last two decades, many with his band the Guilty Men, have contributed numerous classics to the genre. Now he's taking to the road with his latest ensemble, the Guilty Women. This all-virtuosa group features guitarist Cindy Cashdollar and Nina Gerber, vocalist Christy McWilson, violinists Laurie Lewis and Amy Farris, bassist (and former Ann Arborite) Sarah Brown, and drummer Lisa Pankratz. They're bringing a new CD, "Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women," featuring several new Dave Alvin songs, as well as songs written by Christy, Sarah, and Amy -- plus covers of songs written by Kate Wolf and Tim Hardin, and even a unique version of the Doris Day chestnut "Que Sera Sera."
