Fiddler on the Roof in Concert
Featuring Orchestrations by John Williams

Professional Broadway singers Chuck Cooper (Tevye) and Loretta Ables Sayre (Golde) star alongside phenomenally talented U-M Musical Theatre students in this lightly-staged concert performance.
This special concert performance of Fiddler on the Roof features the first live performances of John Williams’s orchestral arrangement of the movie score, which premiered over 50 years ago. Debuting in Hill Auditorium, the event will then be performed by The Philadelphia Orchestra as part of a multi-faceted creative partnership with UMS. This unique collaboration explores the beloved musical and its timeless theme of “Tradition!” through a modern lens. A robust suite of contextual activities will explore the major themes of the work and their ongoing significance in our lives today.
