Online Disability Day of Mourning Vigil co-hosted by the Disability Alliance and Caucus at Virginia Tech and Disability Culture at the University of Michigan, with funding from University of Michigan Initiative on Disability Studies (UMinDS).

Disability Day of Mourning is an annual day of remembrance for disabled people who have been murdered by family members & caregivers. We honor those we have lost as a community, affirming their humanity in defiance of systemic ableism.

We will discuss the history of the event, excerpt poetry, essays, and speeches regarding the value of disabled lives, and read the names of those we have lost.

ASL & CART provided; private virtual rooms for emotional support will also be available during the event.
