After 46 years, thousands of concerts, more than 30 recordings, nine Grammy Awards, and countless other achievements, the Emerson String Quartet returns to Ann Arbor as part of its farewell tour.

The group, founded as a student group at The Juilliard School in 1976 and named for the transcendentalist poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, has performed 17 concerts in Rackham Auditorium since their UMS debut in 1989.
