In October 2021 the university shared its Year Five annual report from the initial Diversity Equity and Inclusion Five-Year Strategic Plan, which we now refer to as DEI 1.0. At that time, we also marked the beginning of a year-long evaluation process in which central and unit-level content and actions from DEI 1.0 are being assessed to determine what action and initiatives worked well, what actions and initiatives did not work well, and what new DEI issues warrant greater attention in the future.

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI) has planned to host a series of Community Conversations for students, faculty & staff. As a part of this, ODEI has partnered with the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) to bring a Michigan Medicine focused Community Conversation. These conversations will offer our campus community an opportunity to learn about how the university will transition from DEI 1.0 to DEI 2.0, the university's ongoing commitment to DEI, and the ways you can get involved.

Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, Rob Sellers will share information about the transition to DEI 2.0, upcoming leadership transitions, reinforce the university’s commitment to DEI, and talk about opportunities to get involved and provide insights that will inform our DEI 2.0 plans.

Community Conversations is an opportunity for faculty, staff and student to come together bi-weekly to engage on meaningful ways to increase belonging at Michigan Medicine. We feel that it is important to carve out space for dialogue, provide support for one another, promote self-care, and share valuable resources. The sessions are designed for space to hear your voice and all are welcome!
