In Northern Thailand, many critically ill patients consider themselves to be entangled or even hybridized with other beings through the karmic consequences of past actions. Using this case as a starting point, this talk examines the practice of bioethics in situations where individuals are inextricably entangled with one another, a common situation regardless of geography or cultural context. How can one practice normally individual rights-oriented ethics when one is always already partly the other?
