Our SMBC Meet and Greet Series is for all students seeking a 2023 internship or full-time analyst opportunity with our firm. Each session will consist of overviews of the various groups that hire into our programs led by the business members themselves followed by an open-forum Q&A session. Since each session will be different, students are encouraged to attend as many as they like.

Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets
The Debt Capital Markets (DCM) group is a client-facing division of SMBC’sbroker-dealer, SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc., and is responsiblefor delivering the full spectrum of financing solutions for the bank’s clients via the fixed-income market, including:
- Advising on structure, price, and strategy for primary market debt offerings, often part of broader multi-product pitches
- Facilitating dialogue between issuers andfixed-income investors
- Advising on debt portfolio organization via liability management exercises
- Providing advisory services to clients on the ratings process, regulatory environment and hybrid capital structuring

Investment Banking Advisory
Our desk is a client-facing division of SMBC Nikko America’s Investment Banking business, responsible for delivering the full front-to-back spectrum of advisory services, including mergers & acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic advisory solutions to our client base of global corporations within the Consumer & Retail, Industrials, Power, Energy & Infrastructure (PEI), and Technology, Media& Telecom (TMT) sectors, as well as Financial Sponsors of a wide spectrum of investment strategies.

Leveraged and Acquisition Finance
The Leveraged & Acquisition Finance group is a client-facing division of SMBC thatis responsible for delivering client solutions to manage their existing and future debt capital structure. We pitch, structure, and execute LBO,acquisition, and refinancing transactions for sponsored portfolio companies globally. Transactions that LAFG advises clients on include, but are not limited to, refinancing, dividend recapitalizations, and mergers & acquisitions. We leverage the strength of the SMBC balance sheet to put ourselves in a strong position to win client mandates and economics on deals.

Equity Capital Markets (ECM)
ECM is the team that is responsible forproviding origination and execution on equity and equity-linked products– This includes initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, at-the-market offerings, convertible bonds and share repurchase activities. ECMworks closely with clients to structure potential equity offerings that best suit a client’s needs and provide advice on how to best execute offerings. The ECM team often works with other internal departments in providing comprehensive ideas and solutions to the bank’s clients.
