John Cage’s “Lecture on Nothing” - Mark Clague, musicologist
As part of the ongoing series honoring the 100th birthday of the composer, musicology faculty member Mark Clague performs John Cage\&##39;s pathbreaking aesthetic manifesto -- the "Lecture on Nothing" -- that explores the composer/philosopher\&##39;s concepts of structure, meaning, intent, and, especially, Silence, in advance of his infamous 4\&##39;33" and with the provocative musical observations and iconic humor for which Cage was deservedly known.
