Aida Cuevas
“[Aida] Cuevas is to Mexico what Aretha Franklin is to the United States: a powerful voice that encapsulates the essence of her nation’s spirit.” (Kansas City Star)

The voice, charisma and talent of Aida Cuevas has led to one of the most important careers in traditional Mexican and Latin American music. The “Queen of Ranchera Music,” Cuevas exhibits her stunning vocals and her unwavering devotion to traditional mariachi music and its demanding vocal forms. With a career of over 40 years and nearly as many albums, she was awarded the 2018 Grammy Award for “Best Regional Mexican Music Album,” the first time a woman has received the award. Cuevas is a master of the Mariachi art song, ranging from her falsetto heavyweight “El Pastor” to her iconic Juan Gabriel hits including “Te Doy Las Gracias,” “Te Vas a Quedar Con Las Ganas,” and “Quizás Mañana.” With her unique voice and style, she has left a remarkable imprint in the history of Mexican music. Aida Cuevas is joined by Mariachi Aztlán, one of the top collegiate mariachi bands in the country.
