Free and open to the public, all acoustic instruments welcome!

Musicians of all levels are encouraged to join. Bring your acoustic instrument or enjoy as an audience member. Open jam will be followed by a Q&A with the artists.

Rooted in several different musical traditions with influences from both jazz and pop music, Jaerv offers a lively stage performance where vocal, five-voiced tunes blend in with energetic dances and free improvisations.

Jaerv is an internationally well known act and has toured the U.S., Japan, Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Finland and Norway among other countries. Jaerv currently has three full length studio albums and a number of singles and collaborations. Members include Markus Gustavsson – violin, voice; Joel Hagen – flute, whistles, soprano saxophone, EWI, voice; Anders Bergsten – key fiddle, base, organ, voice; Harald Nilsson - guitar, voice; Tobias Hedlund – percussion, organ, voice.

Presented by the Scandinavian Program and the Center for World Performance Studies in honor of Signe Karlström. This annual event, funded through an endowment established by Olivia Maynard and Olof Karlström, provides an opportunity for the U-M community and general public to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Scandinavian Culture. Co-sponsored by SWEA Michigan, the Ann Arbor Community for Traditional Music and Dance, and the Detroit-Swedish Foundation.
