Carolyn Nguyen, Data Science Manager in the Chief Data & Analytics Office

Abstract title: From IE to Digital Marketing to Data Science

Bio: Carolyn Nguyen is a Data Science Manager in the Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) Advanced Analytics Center of Expertise at General Motors. She oversees teams responsible for developing predictive and prescriptive models for GM Sales & Marketing and Customer Experience. Carolyn also led the Emerging Issues Analytics team in Global Vehicle Safety for five years. Her teams have applied various text analytics methods in both roles to draw meaning from unstructured data. Before joining GM, Carolyn spent seven years at Dell in Digital Marketing. She earned an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan.

This seminar series exposes students to a wide-ranging of potential careers in industrial and operations engineering such as consulting, data science, healthcare, finance, supply chain management, energy, transportation, and others. Students will learn from industry affiliates about the nature of different careers and how to prepare for success after graduation.
