Identifying and Translating STEM Skills into Non-Traditional Careers

Employers are looking for transferable skills. Highlighting these skills in your professional portfolio or job application can set you apart from the competition. The challenge is that often transferable skills can be difficult to identify in yourself. In STEM disciplines, it is easy to fixate on your technical skill set.
This session will cover:

Reflecting on and identifying your transferable strengths and skills
Developing language to describe your transferable skills
Decoding job ads to pick out sought-after skills
Connecting your skills to what employers are looking for

Registration is required at https://myumi.ch/48P3Q.
This workshop is part of the Rackham North Workshop Series, although graduate students from all campuses are welcome to attend. If you have any questions about registration please contact rack-prof-dev@umich.edu.
