OEI conducts national evaluations of the policies, procedures, and operations of HHS programs to provide HHS, Congress, and the public with timely, useful, and reliable information on significant issues.These evaluations focus on preventing waste, fraud, and abuse; promoting quality, safety, and value; and advancing excellence and innovation in HHS programs such as Medicare and Medicaid as well as in HHS agencies such as ACF, CDC, NIH, and FDA. OEI evaluations include recommendations to HHS to improve program operations.
