The 26th Borchardt Conference on Advancements in Water & Wastewater will take place in Ann Arbor on May 23-24, 2023. Oral and Poster Presentation Abstracts Due by February 1.

Nominations for the Borchardt-Glysson Water Treatment Innovation Prize are due on February 1, 2023. Detailed nomination guidelines and an application form are available at the weblink.

The Borchardt-Glysson Water Treatment Innovation Prize is an honor consisting of a $10,000 cash award to acknowledge a senior or mid-career professional whose accomplishments in the water or wastewater treatment fields have been nationally and internationally recognized. The Prize will be presented at the Borchardt Conference. As part of the award ceremony, the recipient is invited to deliver the Borchardt-Glysson Water Treatment Innovation Lecture.

Every three years the Michigan-based Borchardt Conference brings together a diverse group of engineers, scientists, public health specialists and students to present and discuss the latest issues and advances in water and wastewater technology. This premier triennial event emphasizes applied research and real-life experience in environmental engineering and water utility operations. CECs and PDHs will be awarded for this conference. This year’s keynote speakers are:

Dr. Paul Westerhoff, Regents’ Professor, Fulton Chair of Environmental Engineering, School of Sustainable Engineering and The Built Environment, Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona

Dr. Adrienne Menniti, Principal Process Engineer, Clean Water Services, Research & Innovation, Tigard, Oregon

The conference is named for Jack A. Borchardt, a Professor of Civil and Sanitary Engineering at U-M from 1948 until his retirement in 1982. He devoted his life to his students, to the university and to his profession. Prof. Borchardt was a dedicated educator, a technical innovator in the water and wastewater treatment field and a promoter of public health.

The University of Michigan Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association, the Michigan Water Environment Association, and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy are proud to co-sponsor the Borchardt Conference.
