Flash Talk | Investigating Color in Roman Egypt

Conservator Carrie Roberts will present key findings from the Kelsey Conservation department’s NEH-funded survey of colorful artifacts at the Museum. Learn about the scientific techniques used to investigate pigments and dyes found in the Kelsey’s unparalleled Roman Egyptian collection, which includes a range of materials from painted stone, ceramic, and wood to dyed textiles.
Kelsey Museum Flash Talks are 15-minute Zoom lectures by Kelsey curators, staff members, researchers, and graduate students talking about their recent research or current projects. Each presentation is followed by 15 minutes of Q&A. Flash Talks are free and open to all visitors. They take place at noon on the first Friday of every month.
