Evan Lieberman is the Total Professor of Political Science and Contemporary Africa at MIT, where he directs the Global Diversity Lab and the MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives. His research and teaching focus on the politics of development and human dignity in ethnically- and racially-divided societies. He is the author of three scholarly books, including Boundaries of Contagion: How Ethnic Politics Have Shaped Government Responses to AIDS (Princeton 2009); and Until We Have Won Our Liberty: South Africa After Apartheid (Princeton 2022); and dozens of scholarly articles. He is a fellow of the Boundaries, Membership, and Belonging Program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), and he co-chairs the Climate Governance Initiative of the EGAP (Evidence for Governance and Politics) Network.
