Virtual Saturday Sampler | Ancient Natural Disasters
Ann Hayden
Fire, floods, earthquakes, and the occasional volcanic eruption dot today’s news. In response, the National Guard, Red Cross, and a variety of resources pour in to help those impacted. How did ancient societies cope with natural disasters? Join us to look at ancient natural disasters, including the Great Fire of Rome (did Nero really play the fiddle?), the volcanic eruptions of Mount Vesuvius and Santorini, the earthquake that shook Pompeii and Herculaneum, and floods and famine.
