In the 2014 paper \textit{Electroid varieties and a compactification of the space of electrical networks}, Lam compactifies the space of electrical networks and embeds the compactification in the totally nonnegative Grassmannian. This embedding reveals an elegant set of analogies between the study of positroids and the study of electrical networks. In particular, restricting the positroid stratification of the Grassmannian to the embedding yields a class of electroid varieties indexed by matchings. In this talk, we'll cover some background on positroids and electrical networks before taking a closer look at the structure of the stratification by electroid varieties.
