Longone (1933-2022) (https://myumi.ch/AWGmA) through her work building the renowned Janice Bluestein Longone Culinary Archive (JBLCA) (https://myumi.ch/73Mkj). The JBLCA encompasses more than 25,000 items including 19th and early 20th century cookbooks, charity cookbooks, immigrant cookbooks, food-related advertising ephemera, and restaurant menus.

At 3:30pm, three invited guests will speak about the impact of Jan Longone’s work and share their experiences engaging with food history through the JBLCA: Peter Heydon (Professor of English Emeritus), Ari Weinzweig (co-founder the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses), and Lisa Young (Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology).
Before and after the panel discussion, you are invited to partake of light refreshments and enjoy a display of highlights from the JBLCA, including a 17th century manuscript cookbook, 19th century cookie cutters, and early issues of Gourmet magazine.
