Shara Nova and The Blue Hour

Acclaimed, Detroit-based composer and vocalist Shara Nova joins the Contemporary Directions Ensemble as part of her William Bolcom Residency in Composition. She will be the featured vocalist in The Blue Hour, a 70 minute collaborative work by Sarah Kirkland Snider, Angelica NĂ©gron, Shara Nova, Rachel Grimes, Caroline Shaw and Shara Nova herself.
This ensemble, composed exclusively of graduate music students, performs contemporary classical music in a variety of instrumentations, from solo works to chamber orchestra. The CDE frequently commissions and performs new works and hosts renowned guest artists and composer residencies.
The CDE artistic advisor is SMTD composition professor Roshanne Etezady.
