Commutative Algebra Seminar: Regular morphisms do not preserve F-rationality

Austyn Simpson (UMich)

A well-known result of Elkik in equal characteristic zero says that, given a flat local ring homomorphism whose closed fiber is a regular local ring, if the source has rational singularities then so does the target. I will present an example which shows that the analogue of this result is false in prime characteristic. This is joint work with Quinlan-Gallego and Singh.
