This talk will provide background on some of the concepts that will appear in the lecture on Friday. Time permitting, we will introduce some of the key players from the theory of anisotropic Banach spaces, inverse theory in additive combinatorics, Fourier transforms of dynamically defined measures, and the interactions among them. The two lectures will be independent of one another and will not assume background in these topics.
