Recently the Department of Pathology as consolidated and rebranded the molecular (somatic and germline) and cytogenetic laboratories as the Division of Diagnostic Genetics and Genomics (DGG). With this rebranding comes a new unified mission to be at the forefront of molecular medicine to better serve our patients, position Michigan Medicine as the leading care center, and promote the dual missions of education and research. The presentation will discuss a brief history of the laboratories, the types of assays being validated, how they fill current gaps in our testing menu, and an expansive vision of the role informatics and bioinformatics will play in the division.
