As the United States heads into another presidential election year, we will all soon be bombarded with political images and messages on social media, on billboards, in television ads, and in our mail. While rulers of the ancient world did not have access to these modern forms of communication, they did use political imagery and words to convey messages. In this tour, we will examine some of the images used by rulers in ancient Rome, Mesopotamia, and Egypt, and we will consider whether these ancient messages were any more accurate than many modern messages.

This event is free and open to all visitors. If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessing this event, please visit our accessibility page at https://myumi.ch/zwPkd or contact the education office by calling (734) 647-4167. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the university to arrange.
