Children’s Books: A Literature of Liminality
Third Thursdays at the Library
Come celebrate the diversity of cultures, languages, and visual styles to be found in global children’s literature. The colorful medley of books come together under the theme of liminality or “in-betweenness.” Featured titles explore the experience of being in between nations, languages, and cultures; between childhood and adulthood; between innocence and politics; between children’s books and “serious” literature.
Browse a display that includes works in languages such as Hawaiian, Maori, Polish, Quechua, Russian, etc., and by such notable authors as Junot Diaz, Vladimir Nabokov, Daniil Kharms, Ernesto Cardenal, Lewis Carroll, and many more.
Join colleagues from the library's International Studies department for this open house as part of the Third Thursdays at the Library event series.
