Join us for a discussion with artists and curators from Gaza and Palestine as we explore the power of art, specifically photography, to create and sustain life under the deadly violence of occupation.

Offered in conjunction with the exhibit Souq Stories: Gaza Lives (https://events.umich.edu/event/119219), this event will feature Shareef Sarhan, an artist and curator from Gaza; Marah Khalifa, a cultural worker from the Palestinian Museum-Ramallah; and Waed Abbas, a curator and human rights activist from Jerusalem.

Stop by the Hatcher Gallery Exhibit Space at 5pm, before the event, for a tour of the exhibit. Curators Amir Marshi and Waed Abbas will delve into the contexts of the photographs and the stories they tell of the Palestinian experience in Gaza and other Palestinian cities.

Iftar will be offered after the event.
