Speech and Language Pathologist Kira Griggs
Kira Griggs is a multilingual pediatric speech-language pathologist with 8 years of experience and ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence and Michigan licensure, with specialized training and experience in bilingual speech and language development and literacy. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology and an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Linguistics and Spanish. She has lived in Paraguay and taught English in South Korea and Germany after graduating from U of M. She is currently based in the Kalamazoo Public Schools, in Michigan. Her home school is El Sol Dual-Language Spanish-English Elementary School. She works with children, ages 3-14, in preschoolers, elementary and middle school settings. She is a specialist in treating children with speech and language impairments, learning disabilities, autism, and other neurodevelopmental, genetic, or acquired disabilities that affect communication. Kira's passion is supporting children and families with bilingual language and literacy development, dispelling myths about bilingual language development, and appropriately identifying communication impairments in bilingual children so they receive the support they need to become bilingual and biliterate adults.
