Fathers in the Media: TV Dads
Presented by the Papa Was Project
Join us for TV Dads, where we'll watch how TV has changed its picture of dads over the years. We will start with the era when depictions of dads were not diverse in classic shows like "Leave It to Beaver" and "Father Knows Best.” The '70s and '80s began introducing strong black fathers in shows like "The Jeffersons" and "The Cosby Show." We will take a look at today's diverse dads in shows such as "black-ish" and see a broader world of what dads can look like on TV.
It's a chance to see how TV dads have broken molds and how they're still doing it today. If you're interested in how television has both reflected and affected who we see as dads, come join us and let's talk about it!
