Mid-Day Morsel | Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling in the Ancient World
Emily Ripper
Explore the ancient world through the lens of sustainability with our “Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling” tour at the Kelsey Museum. Discover how Mediterranean cultures repurposed everyday items—turning mudbricks into game boards, oil lamps into dice containers, and pottery into “scrap paper,” among other creative solutions. Each artifact tells a story of ingenuity, demonstrating the resourceful ways in which ancient people gave new lives to broken or obsolete objects.
