In partnership with U-M Library, local artist and educator Nick Azzaro will lead participants to create layered statement pieces using the pages of out-of-use school library books. After selecting several books to create artwork with, participants will tear pages from one book to alter, which can be done by crossing words out, drawing pictures, writing new text, etc. They will then wheatpaste those pages to a provided surface, entirely covering it to create the first layer. They will then repeat this process with a different book layer after layer.

RSVP needed: http://undoctrinating.rsvpify.com
Maximum number of participants: 15

Are you attending one of these workshops? You can submit your work for our Take Care Student Exhibition.

The Arts Initiative, in partnership with Wolverine Wellness, is launching a series of free art-making workshops for the Take Care AY 2024-25 focus. These workshops are an opportunity to create art, brush up on dance techniques, and other artistic forms that do not require any prior experience. Led by local and regional artists, the workshops are open to the entire U-M and local community. All supplies necessary will be provided at the workshop.
