RTG Number Theory Seminar: The nilpotent cone, Springer resolution, Springer fibers, and the Steinberg variety

Abstract: In this talk, we introduce the nilpotent cone, Springer resolution, Springer fibers, and the Steinberg variety and provide examples. In a broader scope, this is a first step towards geometrizing the Deligne-Langlands correspondence.
