Innovation Insights: A Research Talk with Carlton Fong
Stay Motivated and Carry On: Understanding Students’ Motivational Regulation Strategies
Student motivation can be a persistent challenge in college learning. Students shift from being bored to inspired and back––moment to moment, day to day, class to class. How do students initiate and maintain their own motivation? How can educators facilitate and complement this dynamic process? In this Innovation Insights Research Talk, Carlton Fong will discuss these issues and more based on his recent meta-analytic study on the role of motivational regulation strategies published in the Journal of Educational Psychology. You’ll learn about what these strategies entail and how they are related to students’ achievement, engagement, motivation, and other learning processes.
