Informal Q&A and Reception with Tara Sheena (Dance BFA '11), SMTD Alumni Award Winner
Tara Sheena joins us for an informal talk and reception in celebration of the Alumni Awards presented to her by the SMTD Alumni Board. Free and open to the public; located in the Perry K. Granoff Studio (1060 DANCE / Studio 4).
TARA SHEENA (BFA ’11, dance) spent a singular decade in NYC performing in projects across live theater, film, and opera, with some of her favorite artists and people, including Nadia Tykulsker, Catherine Galasso, Ivy Baldwin, Gillian Walsh, Milka Djordjevich, Leyya Mona Tawil, Ursula Eagly, Lindsey Dietz Marchant, Faye Driscoll, storm budwig, Laurel Snyder, kirsten schnittker, and Marion Spencer. She was featured in the May 2020 issue of Dance Magazine and has been invited to share her hybrid writing-performance work at Gibney, Knockdown Center, and Mt. Tremper (via AUNTS), among others. Her writings have appeared in a number of publications, including Hyperallergic, Culturebot, and Critical Correspondence.
Tara is proud to be the recent recipient of two alumni awards from her alma mater, the University of Michigan: the Emerging Artist Award and the Paul F. Boylan Award. Currently, she lives in Austin, TX, where she relocated in 2021 to pursue her MBA at the University of Texas at Austin.
