Undergraduate Seminar: Prime Factorization in a Principal Ideal Domain

Integers can be uniquely factored into a product of prime numbers, however this property doesn't hold in all rings. We will discuss unique factorization, motivated by examples. Then we will investigate the relationship between unique factorization domains and principal ideal domains.
